Beginning Historical Fencing
June 22-26 9:00am-12:00

Ages 10-13

Students will learn the basics of the German system of fencing, associated with Master Johannes Liechtenauer, which dominated central and western Europe during the medieval and Renaissance periods. This knightly art, often referred to as Kunst des Fechtens (K.D.F) is based upon sound physical, tactical, and strategic principles emphasising self control and reasoning over pure speed and strength. Students will learn the basics of longsword, rondel dagger, and the partisan, a wide bladed spear.

Classes will be fast paced, exciting, and physically challenging. Students should bring water bottles, athletic apparel, and a snack.

Advanced Historical Fencing For Teens -
Pieces of Ringeck: The Definitive Edition of the Gloss of Sigmund Ainring

June 22-26 12:30-3:30

Ages 13-19

Sigmund Ainring was one of the most important masters of the Liechtenauer tradition, and the only member of the “Fellowship of Liechtenauer” with a known longsword text. We will study the entire longsword section of the current translation by Michael Chidester and Dierk  Hagedorn.

This camp is reserved for teen-aged members of the Center for Blade Arts who have been training with us for at least two months before the beginning of camp.

Classes will be fast paced, exciting, and physically challenging. Students should bring water bottles, athletic apparel, and a snack.

We will be studying the newest available translation, start studying!

Youth Swordsmanship Sampler Camp

August 10-14 9:00-12:00

Ages 13-19

In this camp, students will get the chance to try six of the most popular weapons we train at the Center for Blade Arts. We will learn the basics of the three olympic weapons: Foil, Epee, and Saber, and three of our favorite historical fencing weapons, the longsword, the dagger, and partisan (a wide-bladed polearm). This will give the campers a good view into what we do at C.B.A.

Classes will be fast paced, exciting, and physically challenging. Students should bring water bottles, athletic apparel, and a snack.
