WOMEN IN FENCING

The CBA competitive Epee program takes women’s fencing seriously.
We view women’s fencing as a different game from men’s fencing, just as women’s soccer and women’s basketball are different from men’s soccer and basketball.
In the real world of regional, national and international fencing, fencing tournaments are gender-specific. Therefore, the best approach is to train girls and women to fence each other, using some men as training partners when appropriate.
Our epeeists are consistent medalists at Minnesota and regional events.
Our coaches’ track records demonstrate our commitment to women’s fencing and our success in women’s epee.
We are proud of our women’s epee program and the rapid strides we have made in a short time.

Fencing for Post-ACL Injuries
We also suggest fencing for teenagers who have recovered from ACL tears and are looking for a new sport with less risk of repeated ACL injury:
-
Fencing does not put much stress on the ACL: we have seldom heard of an ACL tear in fencing;
-
We have an active girl-friendly program with a supportive culture;
-
We have had good success in teaching former soccer players to fence;
-
We'd particularly like center defenders but other positions are welcome, too 😉;
-
New athletes can start any time. If they've had surgery, we would want them to be through their basic rehab to the point where they can jump and cut;
-
We'd be happy to invite any athlete, parent, or caregiver to observe our training.
